I don't get it. It's two weeks away and already girls are chatting about it like christmas. I'm trying to go into hiding as the lace and big red hearts make their way into all the stores. What I'm wondering is why it's such a huge deal. Why are girls so worried about having a valentine or not, and why do they think they have a right to be desperate and picky. j/k, kinda.

I can't see the point in picking a day that everyone who is anyone has to be with someone. It seems like an awful lot of pressure to fake the way into someones heart, and then when the rush is over, leave them hanging. It seems like it hurts alot of people on the 15th, when they realize they were only picked because they were a last resort. I've ignored the holiday with a passion since I figured out what it was, and now I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Am I??

I think people tend to forget that Valentine's Day doesn't only have to be about romantic love.

Even during the time when I didn't have a "sweetheart", I always enjoyed giving Valentines to the people I care about--sister, mom, nieces, students, etc. Of course it's going to be all the more special now that I do have a sweetheart, but I still intend to give pieces of my heart to everyone I love (how corny sounding is that).

I have no shame in admitting I like Valentine's day...yes, of course you should be showing Love everyday (just like you should be showing the Christmas spirit of peace everyday), but I like that there's a day I can show it to many in extra special ways.

Good point! I used to love making Valentines for my parents when I was little and then in college I absolutely loved getting a Valentine care package from my parents. It's a good day to do a little something special for anyone you love.
